Suncorp Haven gives each Australian home a voice on climate risk — Cannes Titanium GP

Enter an address; a film voiced by that home details its flood, fire and storm risks — 280k visits in year one.

Suncorp Insurance

The ideaA platform that turns 12 data sets into a personalized film narrated by the home itself, telling each Australian homeowner what to fix before the next storm.substantial

What it had to solve

Australia is one of the world's most disaster-prone countries: by 2035 roughly 1 in 10 homes could become uninsurable, 9 in 10 claims include preventable damage, and 35% of Australians still don't believe extreme weather will affect their own home. Suncorp had spent five years pushing the industry from 'recovery' to 'resilience' but needed to make it personal.

How it works

Suncorp, one of Australia's biggest insurers, had spent five years arguing the industry should move from paying out after disasters to making homes resilient — but most Australians still assumed disaster would strike someone else. Research showed 35% didn't believe extreme weather would affect their own home, while 9 in 10 claims included preventable damage and roughly 1 in 10 homes could be uninsurable by 2035.

Haven made resilience personal at address level. Users enter their address and get a cinematic, data-driven film: 12 data sets — Suncorp's natural-peril risk data plus Google Maps, CoreLogic, weather and property sources — are rendered into a story narrated by the house itself, with an AI voice matched to the property's age, plus a downloadable report of tailored fixes. It launched in May 2025 after two years of development, supported by TV, OOH, social and PR.

In its first year Haven drew 280k+ visitors averaging 2 minutes 55 seconds per session and generated 2M+ earned reach across 139 articles; 95% of users found it informative and 74% said they would make their home more resilient. Suncorp credits the platform inside its 2019–2026 resilience program, which lifted it from #2 to #1 in home insurance, cut the cost of a quote from $130 to $80, added $402M in customer lifetime value and helped push the government to commit an extra $2.6B in resilience funding.

Why it lands

  • Address-level personalization turns a distant climate threat into a problem about your own roof, not a generic warning.
  • Narrating the data in the home's voice (AI matched to property age) makes the risk feel like advice from the house itself.
  • Suncorp published its own natural-peril data for the first time, converting proprietary insight into a public good.
  • The platform was a media-agnostic big idea: every channel pointed to one tool instead of scattering campaign messages.

What it did

280k+ visitors in year one with a 2min 55s average session; 2M+ earned reach across 139 articles; 95% of users found it informative and 74% said they would act. Suncorp credits it inside a 2019–2026 platform that moved the insurer from #2 to #1 in home insurance, cut quote costs from $130 to $80 and added $402M in customer lifetime value.

What you can take

Climate risk stays abstract until it's addressed to one's own door: turn proprietary data into a personal, emotional experience and 'it won't happen to me' becomes the campaign's subject.

Since then

Cannes Lions 2026 awarded Haven the Dan Wieden Titanium Grand Prix, and The One Show gave it a 2026 Green Pencil; industry coverage framed it as a new model for insurer marketing. Suncorp continues the resilience platform — its lobbying contributed to the Insurance Council of Australia's Project Resilience, aimed at embedding resilience in the National Building Code, and to an additional $2.6B in government resilience funding.
