Helinox Eclipse: a 320g down jacket whose panels trace its eclipse logo
Helinox Wear's first garment builds the brand's eclipse curve into every panel and reaches 320 grams — and sold out in a month.
Helinox Wear
What it had to solve
Helinox, best known for portable outdoor furniture, crossed into apparel with its 'Edition' series. The debut jacket had to be unmistakably Helinox and light enough to pack, while solving down's classic weaknesses of bulk and feather loss.
How it works
Helinox built its name on portable outdoor equipment — chairs and tables that fold small enough to travel. When it moved into clothing with the 'Edition' series, the first piece had to prove the same idea in fabric: gear-light construction with a distinctive look.
The Eclipse Pack Down Jacket answers with 7-denier nylon shell and lining (21 g/sqm) and 800-fill-power goose down, reaching roughly 320 grams in size L. Its curved panel structure follows the body's natural movement and visually echoes Helinox's eclipse mark, so the jacket is a three-dimensional expression of the logo.
The panel system also addresses down's engineering weaknesses: an exacting cut and refined manufacturing reduce feather loss at the seams, keeping thermal efficiency high over time, while a designed packing system lets the jacket be stowed small and carried easily.
The product sold out within a month of its 2025 fall-winter launch and in 2026 became the first Korean outdoor apparel design to win Red Dot Best of the Best in Product Design, with the jury highlighting both its sculptural identity and its extreme lightness.
Why it lands
- Making the logo the panel geometry gives the jacket an identity no other down layer can copy.
- Ultra-light materials plus a packable system translate the brand's furniture design language into clothing.
- Solving down leakage through construction, not extra fabric, preserves warmth without adding weight.
- A curved, body-following cut made the light jacket feel technical rather than flimsy.
What it did
The jacket sold out within a month of its 2025 fall-winter launch and won Red Dot Best of the Best 2026 — the first time a Korean outdoor apparel brand took the top prize in Product Design. The jury praised the distinctive sculptural panel construction and the lightness of the materials.
What you can take
When a brand enters a new category, carry the identity in the construction: the eclipse curve is both logo and engineering, so the garment cannot be mistaken for anyone else's down jacket.
Since then
The Eclipse Pack Down Jacket became the anchor of Helinox Wear's 'Edition' series, designed to cross the boundaries between equipment and apparel and between outdoor and everyday life. Its Red Dot Best of the Best 2026 win marked the first time a Korean outdoor apparel brand took the award's top prize in Product Design, and the company framed the result as proof of design competitiveness rather than styling alone.
