Dutchie's 'Fight For Thais' Gut' soap operas debunk health scams — ADFEST Bronze
Dutchie fights Thailand's online health misinformation with soap-opera robbery comedy, then its hero hands back the true gut facts — ADFEST 2025 Bronze.
Dutchie (Dutch Mill Co., Ltd.)
What it had to solve
Dutchie is one of Thailand's best-known yogurt drink brands, but its gut-health message was being drowned out. Younger Thais use social media as their search engine and trust influencers over healthcare professionals, and a Ministry of Digital Economy and Society report counted over 5,061 online fake-news cases in 2023, about 44% of them health products and services; inherited myths about weight and digestion meanwhile went uncorrected, leaving gut health neglected.
How it works
Dutchie is one of Thailand's best-known yogurt drink brands, but its gut-health message was losing the argument. Younger Thais treat social media as their search engine and say they trust influencers and YouTubers over healthcare professionals; a Ministry of Digital Economy and Society report counted over 5,061 online fake-news cases in 2023, about 44% of them health products and services. Alongside that flood sit inherited myths — that weight gain is purely genetic, that long toilet sits cure constipation — so gut health went uncorrected.
Ogilvy Bangkok's answer was to fight misinformation inside the format where Thais already watch it. 'Fight For Thais' Gut' staged five short soap-opera-style scenes built on a stock Thai entertainment villain, the robber: each scene is a 'health scam' in which friendly thieves hand victims wrong advice — a teenager with acne, a gym enthusiast, a weight-conscious woman, an office worker with weak immunity, a constipated child — and the Dutch Mill lady steps in, dispels the falsehood and gives the correct gut-health fact.
The work ran on YouTube with media by Prakit Holdings, and the industry noticed. It took a Bronze in the Film Lotus category at ADFEST 2025, then a Bronze Lion in Film Craft at Cannes 2025 — Campaign Brief Asia reported it as the region's only Bronze or Silver in that craft category — and won honours at the YouTube Works Awards Thailand and SEA 2025.
Why it lands
- It matched the media to the audience: young Thais meet health advice on social platforms, so the campaign fought misinformation inside YouTube comedy rather than issuing official corrections.
- The robber is shorthand Thai audiences already understand, so the films read as entertainment first and the health claim arrives inside a joke instead of a lecture.
- The scam format mirrors how misinformation really travels — advice from a friendly authority figure — which made the Dutch Mill lady's correction feel earned rather than preachy.
- The hero was the brand itself, so every accurate gut-health fact was handed over in Dutchie's voice, attaching expertise to the yogurt maker's name.
What it did
The films ran on YouTube with media by Prakit Holdings and picked up a Bronze in the Film Lotus category at ADFEST 2025, then a Bronze Lion in Film Craft at Cannes 2025 — reported by Campaign Brief Asia as the region's only Bronze or Silver in that craft category — plus YouTube Works Awards Thailand and SEA honours in 2025. On screen, the campaign made Dutchie's Dutch Mill lady the recurring hero who corrects Thailand's health scams.
What you can take
Don't lecture people who trust creators over experts; borrow the entertainment they already love and make misinformation itself the joke, so the truth lands inside the fun.
Since then
The campaign kept collecting honours through 2025 — a Bronze Film Lotus at ADFEST 2025 in Pattaya, a Bronze Lion in Film Craft at Cannes Lions, and YouTube Works Awards Thailand and SEA recognition for Prakit's media work. For the brand it advanced the shift from yogurt seller to guardian of Thailand's gut-health conversation: in every film the Dutch Mill lady, not the product, is the hero who corrects the scam.
