Laundry advertising often promises spotless outcomes, but Dirt Is Good needed to prove its old belief that stains can mark participation. The Arsenal partnership needed a local cultural reason to exist in Brazil.

Find amateur Brazilian teams already calling themselves Arsenal, then turn their dusty pitches into the brand world for Dirt Is Good.

The team staged the OMO Varzenal Cup for eight grassroots teams, filmed a five-part docuseries with Kondzilla, and built a rough visual system of hand-painted type, raw textures and everyday pitch motifs.

Dirt Is Good reports over 110 million global views, 180,000 watch hours, completion 293% above Kondzilla benchmarks, and 92% of viewers saying the brand felt culturally relevant.

Dirt Is Good and Arsenal could have made a clean global football partnership. Instead, the team looked at Brazil's varzea culture, where amateur neighborhood teams play on rough pitches and some had independently adopted Arsenal's name as their own.

The creative move was to recognize those teams rather than overwrite them. Eight sides competed in the OMO Varzenal Cup, with Ian Wright and Gilberto Silva involved, while Kondzilla captured the story from local dirt pitches to a final at Emirates Stadium.

D&AD recognized the visual system for preserving imperfection: hand-painted typography, raw textures and community motifs scaled across social, tournament environments and activations. Dirt Is Good says the campaign became OMO's most successful brand content ever.

The idea made dirt the evidence of play, not the enemy of the product.

Real amateur teams gave the Arsenal partnership a specific Brazilian root.

The visual identity matched the roughness of the pitches instead of importing polished sports branding.

The docuseries gave the campaign duration and emotional stakes beyond a single film.

A sponsorship becomes more believable when the brand notices culture already happening without it, then builds a stage around that existing behavior.

Dirt Is Glory became a 2026 awards case, including a D&AD Wood Pencil for Art Direction and New Brand Identity. The campaign page says the story travelled back to Guarulhos after the Emirates final and reinforced Dirt Is Good's long-running belief that dirt is proof of a life being lived.
