要解决的问题
Prove affordability and timeless quality are not mutually exclusive: owning an original masterpiece may be beyond reach, but owning a piece of one is not.
The idea
Paintings by Matisse, Cézanne, Munch, Simberg and Barbosa contain furniture that looks like IKEA's — proof the affordable designs are timeless masterpieces.
如何实现
Launched across in-store and mall screens and social films, plus a museum-style in-store walkaround with mock-ups of the masterpieces and audio narrations in typical IKEA tone and humour.
产生的效果
No results reported. The campaign reclaims affordability as an invitation to own designs that endure rather than a compromise.
背景
In January 2026, IKEA Alsulaiman launched 'Affordable Masterpieces' in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain with Memac Ogilvy, challenging the perception that affordable means not premium.
The campaign's insight is art-historical: works by Henri Matisse, Paul Cézanne, Edvard Munch, Hugo Simberg and Dario Barbosa feature furniture strikingly similar to IKEA's iconic designs — forms that have quietly stood the test of time, much like the artworks themselves. The light-hearted conclusion: while an original masterpiece is beyond most budgets, owning a piece of one, through timeless well-designed furniture, is not.
It ran across in-store and mall screens, social films and a museum-style in-store walkaround complete with mock-ups of the masterpieces and audio narrations delivered in IKEA's characteristic tone and humour. 'When design lasts for generations and feels at home across cultures and eras, that's true quality,' said IKEA Alsulaiman CMO Rami Rihani.
为什么有效
The art-historical observation turns a price message into a discovery — viewers convince themselves the designs are timeless.
IKEA-tone audio narration gives the museum show the brand's own humour, so the joke stays IKEA's.
'Owning a piece of a masterpiece' converts a discount positioning into an aspirational one without changing the price.
