要解决的问题
With visual impairments, entering new spaces is hard. Object detection apps identify what is around a user but stop there; Dot Incorporation and Serviceplan Germany wanted the next step — from knowing what something is to doing something with it.
The idea
An app that does not stop at identifying objects — it connects them to actions: a detected bus stop sign can trigger opening the right ticketing app.
如何实现
Dot Go detects objects and links each one to a chosen action. The use cases are community-built: anyone can create new ones and share them with other users. The app is a free download on the App Store.
产生的效果
Used by thousands of users and organizations; Gold Award in Interactive & Mobile Digital Service Experience at ADC*E 2025.
背景
For visually impaired people, entering a new space is hard, and the apps built to help stop one step short. Object detection can name what is around you — a sign, a door, a kiosk — but naming is not doing. Dot Incorporation and Serviceplan Germany's answer is Dot Go, which they position as the first object interaction app: it detects objects and connects them to actions.
The canonical example from the team: a detected bus stop sign could trigger opening the right ticketing app. The trigger-to-action pairings are not a fixed library — anyone can create new use cases and share them with the community, so the map of tappable objects grows with its users rather than with the developer's roadmap.
The app is free on the App Store and is being used by thousands of users and organizations. At ADC*E 2025 it took the Gold Award in Interactive & Mobile Digital Service Experience.
为什么有效
It moves accessibility tech one step past detection — from 'this is a bus stop sign' to 'and here is the thing you do with it' — which is where the actual friction lives.
The community use-case model turns every user into a co-author, growing coverage of the physical world without a central team mapping it.
Free distribution plus organizational adoption gives it a real footprint: thousands of users and organizations, not a concept film.
可以借鉴什么
Accessibility products win by finishing the thought: detection tells you what a thing is, but the product is what you can do next — and letting users program it themselves is what makes it scale.
