What it had to solve
Keep building the duo theme of 'Two Is More Than One' with comedy that stands out from the previous year's surreal ad.
The idea
Cast a pair of ventriloquist dummies as the double act, singing a duet, so two is more than one and the usually creepy dolls turn charming.
How it works
Dougal Wilson directed two ventriloquist dummies performing Nelly and Kelly Rowland's hit 'Dilemma', using their limited expressions, especially the eyebrows, to find a soulful side. The ad was shot in-camera with minimal post-production.
What it did
Creative Review praises the director's charm and comic flair; no audience results are given.
Background
Creative Review reports that Twix took its 'Two Is More Than One' platform to new comedic heights with a spot starring two ventriloquist dummies performing Nelly and Kelly Rowland's 'Dilemma', directed by Dougal Wilson for adam&eve\TBWA. The platform builds on last year's absurdist ad, a high-speed car chase in which a duplicate car fixed to the driver's roof saves him as he rolls off a cliff.
The magazine says the double-act theme has let the agency make a number of campaigns featuring duos, culminating in this one. Dummies are usually a little creepy, but Wilson uses their limited expressions, particularly the eyebrows, to bring out their soulful side.
The ad was shot in-camera with minimal post-production. Executive creative director Matt Gay says it was a joy to be on set shooting the dummies for real with Wilson. Production was by Blink, editing by Final Cut and VFX by Untold Studios.
Why it lands
Dummies are a natural pair and a natural duet, so the product's pair-pack becomes the joke.
Shooting for real in-camera keeps the characters tactile and funny.
The comic song choice, 'Dilemma', frames the duo as an unlikely pair.
What you can take
A long-running platform stays fresh when each execution finds a new double act, and practical, in-camera craft gives it charm.
Since then
Creative Review's July 2026 piece gives no results; it calls the tagline 'a little clunky' but praises the execution.
