Nicolas Theil's guiding question for a first watch: how do you give an object a strong identity when its function directly shapes its form — and make hidden mechanics tangible in the wearer's gestures?

Make the bezel a mechanical control: paired with a crown at 12 o'clock, one twisting gesture sets the time, winds the watch and adjusts the date.

An ETA 2824 automatic in a 38.5mm steel case; a relief honeycomb dial whose geometry echoes through bezel, case and Hivelink bracelet; crown at 12 o'clock; three lines (Origine, Signature, Révélation) and five dial versions with green Luminova.

Unveiled 8 October 2026 as a limited first collection; no sales figures yet — the debut statement is the concept itself: the bezel promoted from decoration to mechanism.

HIVEMASTER is the first watch from THEIL, an independent house founded in Paris by designer Nicolas Theil — trained between Paris and Tokyo, with Giambattista Valli and Jean Paul Gaultier among his collaborators, and his own brand since 2011. Its core is SYNC MOTION, an exclusive case complication in which the bezel stops being the border between dial and case and becomes a genuine mechanical component built into the watch's architecture. Paired with a crown at 12 o'clock, it forms a dual control interface uniting time setting, winding and date in one interaction designed around the gesture.

The design language borrows the hive: a hexagonal honeycomb relief on the dial catches and breaks up light as the wrist moves, and the same geometry carries through case, bezel and the Hivelink steel bracelet, so the whole watch reads as one system in which every form serves a function. Underneath sits a Swiss ETA 2824 automatic driving hours, minutes, seconds and date, with a stated 38-hour power reserve; the 38.5mm 316L case is topped by anti-reflective sapphire, and faceted indexes and hands carry green Luminova.

THEIL launched the concept as three lines — Origine, Signature and Révélation — stepping from steel toward more precious interpretations, with five dial versions and a limited first run. Watch title Passion Horlogère framed the launch on 8 October 2026 as the natural extension of Theil's fifteen years of prototyping across design, fashion and leather goods: a watch conceived as a system, where the mechanical movement becomes perceptible through the action applied to it.

Watch mechanics normally hide beneath the dial; SYNC MOTION makes the operation itself the visible idea.

The bezel is usually decoration — promoting it to a load-bearing component turns the control surface into the identity.

A single crown at 12 o'clock collapses three separate interactions into one gesture designed around the hand.

When a product's interface has grown invisible, moving the controls back into the gesture can be the whole identity — form follows the interaction, not a style.

The watch was unveiled on 8 October 2026 as a limited first collection across the three lines; no commercial results or retail rollout have been published yet. The launch coverage presents SYNC MOTION as the founding gesture of the house — whether it becomes THEIL's platform depends on how the first collection is received, and nothing further has been announced.
