The Real Organic Pistacho wraps a rotating story around its bag — D&AD Graphite Pencil
Everyday-life illustrations circle the whole bag, so the story advances as shoppers rotate it and the brand can keep adding chapters.
Pistachos La Ecofinca
What it had to solve
The packaging had to capture the character and work of the brand, including the care it takes with its pistachios, and give it a graphic language that stands out in the category.
How it works
Spanish pistachio producer Pistachos La Ecofinca needed packaging that did more than hold nuts: it had to capture the character and work of the brand, including the care the company takes with the product, and stand out in a category where bags tend to look alike.
Agency Pensando en Blanco answered with a graphic language built on costumbrista illustrations of everyday behaviour. The drawings circle the whole bag, so a customer follows a story as they rotate it in their hands — turning the package into a page-turner and the buying moment into a small discovery.
The system was also designed to grow: because each scenario is a new illustration rather than a fixed layout, the brand can keep adding characters and situations without redesigning the pack. D&AD gave the work a Graphite Pencil in Packaging Design – Consumer in 2022 and archived it in that year's annual.
Why it lands
- The buyer turns the bag, so the packaging turns the page — the product itself is the medium.
- Everyday scenes make an organic premium brand feel accessible instead of distant.
- The 360° wrap uses the one surface shoppers actually handle and rotate.
- A modular illustration system lets the story keep growing without a new design system.
What it did
The pack won a D&AD 2022 Graphite Pencil in Packaging Design – Consumer and was archived in that year's annual; D&AD's own write-up singled out a graphic language that stands out in its category.
What you can take
When the quality that makes a brand special is invisible on the shelf, make the pack itself the medium and give the buyer a physical action that enacts the brand's character.
Since then
The work was archived in D&AD's 2022 annual and the rotating-story packaging became an extendable identity: each new illustration added a chapter to the brand rather than requiring a redesign, letting Pistachos La Ecofinca keep refreshing shelf presence while the core idea stayed intact.
