What it had to solve
A culture-first launch for the Find X9 Series (Hasselblad Master Camera System, 120x Superzoom, two-day battery) under Hello's 'for Creatures of the Night' platform, aimed at Sydney's nightlife and creator scene.
The idea
Invent a mascot-influencer with glowing features and fuzzy edges — notoriously hard for phone cameras — so every other phone fails and OPPO's shines.
How it works
Xanthe, OPPO's fuzzy larger-than-life influencer, landed in Sydney for her own TikTok series: a neon city tour, a 24-hour livestream inside Westfield, and an all-night launch at club Aura with DJ Havana Brown — every moment captured on the Find X9's Superzoom and low-light mode by influencers and media.
What it did
Hello described viral street moments and headline-grabbing coverage merging PR, influencer amplification and brand storytelling into 'a full-blown cultural moment'; no figures were reported.
Background
In November 2025, OPPO launched its Find X9 Series in Australia with 'for Creatures of the Night', a platform developed by integrated agency Hello around people who work all day and come alive after dark. Its centrepiece was Xanthe, OPPO's own fuzzy, larger-than-life influencer — deliberately built with glowing features and fuzzy edges that are 'notoriously hard for phone cameras to capture'.
'We were setting up a fail moment for other brands, and one where OPPO's Find X9 Series could shine,' said Hello ECD Daniel Fryer. Xanthe touched down in Sydney for her own TikTok series, spotted by some of the city's biggest influencers: a neon tour of Sydney, a 24-hour livestream in Westfield, and an all-night influencer and media launch with DJ Havana Brown at Aura, reviving Sydney's club scene for one night.
The peak came at the 'Creatures of the Night' club event, where media, influencers and nightlife icons captured every moment on the Find X9 Series' 120x Superzoom and low-light mode — the product demo embedded in the party itself.
Why it lands
The 'fail moment' is engineered: Xanthe's glowing fuzz is exactly what weak cameras smear, so side-by-side posts do the selling.
A brand-owned influencer can't be poached and always carries the product — Xanthe exists to be photographed at night.
The rollout escalates earned reach: street sightings, a 24-hour Westfield livestream, then a club launch with Havana Brown.
What you can take
Design the demo into the mascot: a creature other cameras fail on turns every competitor's phone into evidence for yours.
Since then
The Find X9 Series launched in November 2025 with the Sydney takeover. No sales or reach figures were reported.
