What it had to solve
Bring the world of 'Deli Boys' to life as an immersive mobile activation through New York City, Austin's SXSW and Chicago's River Dyeing festival.
The idea
Turn a food truck into a full-scale reimagining of the show's fictional ABC Deli, where fans pay with custom Deli Boys 'cash' and brush past the stars.
How it works
The truck carried custom-designed props, themed giveaways and surprise appearances by series stars Asif Ali and Saagar Shaikh. Guests collected Deli Boys 'cash' to redeem for snacks and drinks inspired by the show's cultural roots, and explored touchpoints including faux surveillance cameras, a behind-the-scenes fridge screen and a stylised newspaper dispenser.
What it did
Visitors left with posters and Hulu swag; Allied reported the tour as proof that live activations drive fan engagement and social buzz. No reach or attendance figures were reported.
Background
To celebrate the launch of the Hulu Original 'Deli Boys', Allied Global Marketing partnered with Hulu and Onyx Collective on a mobile activation that hit New York City, Austin's SXSW and Chicago's River Dyeing festival in spring 2025.
Allied transformed a food truck into a full-scale reimagining of the show's fictional ABC Deli, complete with custom-designed props, themed giveaways and surprise appearances by series stars Asif Ali and Saagar Shaikh. Guests stepped into the show's world: they collected custom Deli Boys 'cash' and redeemed it for snacks and drinks inspired by the show's cultural roots, with interactive touchpoints including faux surveillance cameras, a behind-the-scenes fridge screen and a stylised newspaper dispenser.
Visitors left with posters and Hulu swag. Paddy Davis, EVP Brand Experience at Allied, called it an example of 'creative ambition meets collaborative execution', and the agency framed the tour as evidence that live activations remain a powerful tool for fan engagement, brand storytelling and social buzz.
Why it lands
The fictional business is the brand asset: rebuilding the ABC Deli at street scale turns the show's setting into the campaign's venue.
The 'cash' mechanic makes visitors transact inside the show's world instead of just looking at it.
Star appearances convert a prop truck into a fan moment worth posting.
Routing through SXSW and Chicago's River Dyeing put the truck where crowds were already primed for spectacle.
What you can take
A show's set can be a venue: rebuilding a fictional business at street scale lets fans spend fictional currency, and the prop gags do the marketing.
Since then
The tour covered New York, SXSW in Austin and Chicago's River Dyeing festival around the show's launch in early 2025. No attendance or streaming figures were reported in the coverage.
