Honda's Kilometer Loyalty Exchange swaps odometer miles for a bus ticket home

TU7UH repackages Astra Honda's homecoming program as airline miles — riders trade dashboard kilometers for a bus seat while trucks carry the bike home.

What it had to solve

Every Eid, PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) runs Mudik Balik Bareng Honda, ferrying riders and their motorcycles home by bus and truck. The program has a loyal following but low awareness among Gen Z, who do not see the homecoming trip as something the brand does for them. Agency TU7UH Creative Lab, founded in August 2024, changed the packaging.

How it works

PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) has run Mudik Balik Bareng Honda for years, carrying riders and their motorcycles home for the Eid holiday by bus and truck. The program has a loyal base, but awareness among Gen Z is low — young riders do not see the homecoming trip as a reward from the brand. TU7UH Creative Lab, a Jakarta agency founded in August 2024, was given the task of making the program relevant.

TU7UH's answer was to package it like airline miles. Honda read the odometer data on each rider's motorcycle dashboard and sent hyper-targeted invitations to high-kilometer owners, the riders who value their bikes most. The distance they had already ridden became the currency: riders travelled home by bus while trucks shipped their motorcycles, so the bike was waiting and usable in the village. When the Rp150,000 tickets for the 2025 season sold out quickly, AHM opened 50 extra seats and gave the highest-mileage riders first chance to buy them.

The result was both operational and creative. The 2025 program moved 2,200 riders on 56 buses and 1,100 motorcycles on 28 trucks to Yogyakarta and Semarang, and the mileage framing drew national coverage. At Spikes Asia 2026 the Kilometer Loyalty Exchange became the second Honda campaign to win for TU7UH — whose two Honda campaigns took two Silvers and a Bronze and made the agency Indonesia Agency of the Year barely a year and a half after it opened.

Why it lands

  • Framing the trip as airline miles made an old program legible and exclusive to a generation fluent in loyalty language.
  • Odometer targeting turned a mass program into personal invitations for the riders most attached to their bikes.
  • Trucking the motorcycles meant riders gained a safer journey without losing their bike in the village.
  • Letting distance unlock the ticket made the reward feel earned by riding, not by registering.

What it did

The 2025 homecoming moved 2,200 riders on 56 buses and 1,100 motorcycles on 28 trucks to Yogyakarta and Semarang. The mileage exchange drew wide Indonesian coverage and became the second Honda campaign to win at Spikes Asia 2026, where TU7UH's two Honda campaigns collected two Silvers and a Bronze and the two-year-old agency was named Indonesia Agency of the Year.

What you can take

Existing loyalty can become currency: measure behaviour people already show — kilometers ridden — and let it buy something they genuinely want, in language the young understand.

Since then

The mileage exchange turned a routine homecoming service into one of the two Honda campaigns that made the two-year-old agency TU7UH Indonesia Agency of the Year at Spikes Asia 2026. The idea also fed a broader shift in how AHM talks about ownership — kilometres ridden as proof of a relationship — and the 2025 edition's fast sell-out plus the extra mileage-based seats became the campaign's measure of demand.
