Panasonic's LUMIX S9 puts one-touch color grading on a dedicated LUT button

What it had to solve
Content creators shooting on full-frame cameras had to color-grade on a computer before posting. Panasonic wanted the S9 — its smallest and lightest full-frame LUMIX — to get from capture to social share without post-production.
How it works
In May 2024 Panasonic announced the LUMIX S9, the smallest and lightest full-frame camera in its S series, and gave it a dedicated 'LUT' button on the body. The button provides direct access to the REAL TIME LUT function, so a photographer can cycle popular, classic or bespoke color styles in-camera while shooting.
Around the button Panasonic built a complete workflow: the new LUMIX Lab smartphone app lets creators develop their own LUT color files on a phone, transfer them to the camera, and apply them — with opacity control and grain effects — before sharing. A new MP4 Lite format, shot in Open Gate 10-bit, is designed to resize cleanly for social platforms, and Panasonic touted a 30-second path from capture to post.
The camera paired the LUT workflow with a 24.2MP full-frame sensor, phase-detection autofocus and 5-axis stabilization in a 403g body offered in four colorways. The Japanese press release pitched it as a full-frame camera for everyday 'snap photography with originality,' with the LUT button explicitly improving the operability of color files.
