What it had to solve
Cutting thick cardboard, carpet or leather with ordinary scissors forces awkward wrist angles, while power tools feel clunky and tiring. HOTO wanted a cordless cutter that could be operated one-handed without fatigue.
How it works
Cutting tools tend to be built around the blade, not the hand that wields it. HOTO's EdgeFlow electric scissors started from the opposite end: how the wrist, fingers and grip behave when someone cuts hard, thick materials repeatedly.
The answer was a handle whose front curves slightly upward so the hand's pushing force aligns with the cutting direction. The design locks the tool into the palm, and every control — safety lock, trigger and boost — sits where the thumb can reach it without loosening the grip, while a textured TPU rear handle prevents slipping.
HOTO also turned maintenance into a product feature: titanium-coated stainless blades are replaced by hand in seconds, and a built-in sharpener restores the edge on demand, keeping the tool consistent over months of cutting boxes, leather, carpet and plastic.
The jury gave the EdgeFlow Red Dot Best of the Best 2026, calling the handle design more stable and less effortful and the overall appearance simply beautiful. Independent coverage noted that no other electric scissors ship with an integrated self-sharpener.
