LG's OLED T — world's first transparent wireless 4K TV — wins iF Gold 2025
A 77-inch TV that turns from glass-clear to opaque and gets video over the air — LG's OLED T wins iF Design Award 2025 Gold.

What it had to solve
In the living room, a TV's dark panel owns the space even when it's off. LG's SIGNATURE line exists to turn technology into something that belongs in the home, so the brief was to design a TV that doesn't look like a TV when you're not watching it.
How it works
LG showed the SIGNATURE OLED T at CES 2024: a 77-inch 4K OLED panel that is transparent when off and can raise a contrast film to become a normal opaque TV for viewing. Video and audio travel wirelessly from a Zero Connect box, so the screen itself has no cables. LG called it the world's first transparent and true wireless 4K OLED TV.
The product came from LG SIGNATURE's brief to make technology feel at home. Rather than hiding the TV or shrinking it, the design lets it disappear — as glass you can see through — until you actually want to watch. A button on the remote raises or lowers the black contrast film.
In February 2025, the iF Design Award jury gave OLED T the Gold Award in the Product category, the top honor in one of the world's three biggest industrial design competitions. LG took 36 awards in that same edition, with OLED T as the headline product.
Why it lands
- Transparency directly answered the stated problem: an off TV no longer occupies the room as a black slab.
- Wireless video and audio removed the other reason TVs look like clutter — cables — by moving them into a separate, hideable Zero Connect box.
- One product offered two modes: a full contrast film for conventional watching, and a transparent mode for ambiance or floating digital images.
- The iF Gold jury validated it in the Product category, the strongest external confirmation of the concept.
What it did
iF Design Award 2025 Gold, the top prize in the Product category, plus 35 more LG awards in the same edition. The design reframed the TV as an interior object that can disappear, putting transparent-and-wireless on the industry roadmap.
What you can take
The boldest move was subtraction: let the object disappear when unused. Fixing visual clutter (black slab) and physical clutter (cables) turned a TV into an interior decision, not a device decision.
Since then
LG kept the transparent OLED as its flagship SIGNATURE statement, and the 36-award iF haul in 2025 was framed by the Corporate Design Center as proof of its human-centered design direction, with OLED T as the flagship example. The wireless Zero Connect approach carried the idea of an uncluttered living space into LG's later TV lineup.
