BGMI Career Mode turns gameplay into career skills — Krafton and Leo India, Abby 2026 Gold
India's most-played battle royale turns hours of play into a personalized skills report that players can put on their resume.
KRAFTON India (Battlegrounds Mobile India) · Leo India
What it had to solve
Young Indians spend serious hours in Battlegrounds Mobile India, yet parents and employers still frame gaming as time wasted — an escape from real life. KRAFTON India wanted a credible way to flip that narrative and validate the time players invest.
How it works
In February 2026 KRAFTON India launched 'BGMI Career Mode', an industry-first initiative that reads Battlegrounds Mobile India players' in-game behavior as evidence of real-world ability. Developed with Aeos Group and Leo India, it was designed to complement resumes, LinkedIn profiles and personal development journeys for students, gamers and working professionals.
The tool works in two layers. First, players complete a guided psychometric assessment that captures behavioral preferences, personality indicators and work-style tendencies. Second, gameplay analytics surface decision-making patterns from competitive play — strategic thinking, composure under pressure, teamwork, adaptability and attention to detail — and the two signals are synthesized into a personalized Career Mode report.
Insights are organized into three broad buckets — Core Skills, Adaptive Skills and Additional Attributes — so a young player can point to a structured document rather than an abstract argument. 'Gaming has always been seen as an escape from real life. We wanted to flip that narrative,' said Sachin Kamble, Chief Creative Officer at Leo South Asia; KRAFTON India's Srinjoy Das framed it as acknowledging that learning happens beyond classrooms.
The initiative launched through digital platforms, backed by Tier 1 Bollywood celebrities and India's largest gaming influencers, with on-ground activations in Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata and Jaipur aimed at college students. At the Abby Awards 2026 it took a Gold in the Digital categories for Leo India, standing alongside the festival's most recognized campaigns.
Why it lands
- It reframed the debate from 'gaming is a waste of time' to 'gaming is evidence of skills', giving players a document instead of a defense.
- Combining a psychometric assessment with actual gameplay analytics made the report feel credible rather than promotional.
- Targeting students and working professionals connected the tool to moments where skill claims actually matter: applications and interviews.
- The report belonged to the player — resume-ready and shareable — so the brand earned advocacy instead of just attention.
What it did
The industry-first tool reframed a mobile shooter as a place where problem-solving, composure under pressure and leadership can be demonstrated, and won a Gold at the Abby Awards 2026 (Digital) for Leo India, where it was highlighted among the most awarded work of the festival.
What you can take
Don't defend playtime — translate it: give players a credible report that turns an activity into recognized skills, changing the argument from 'wasted time' to 'what it teaches'.
Since then
BGMI Career Mode became a signature example of gaming-as-development in India's ad industry: Leo India won a Gold Abby at the Abby Awards 2026, and coverage of the festival repeatedly singled out Career Mode alongside the other Gold-winning BGMI work as proof that games could carry purpose-led, credible storytelling. KRAFTON India was later named among India's most awarded brands of 2026, with Career Mode contributing Gold and Kyoorius honors to its tally.
