La Poste applies Tetris logic to truck loading — 3x parcels, 15,000 tons of CO₂ saved

La Poste rebuilt truck loading on Tetris logic — tripling parcels per truck, saving 15,000 tons of CO₂ a year.

What it had to solve

La Poste processes a growing flood of parcels (490 million in France in 2024) while committing to cut transport emissions. Trucks were leaving with empty space, so the logistics team asked what a legendary puzzle game could teach them about packing.

How it works

La Poste delivered 490 million parcels in France in 2024 and needed to cut transport emissions. Its logistics team found the answer in a video game: apply Tetris' block-stacking logic to loading trucks, stacking parcels floor to ceiling with no empty space.

A software system packs every vehicle so tightly that one truck now carries up to 4,500 parcels instead of 1,500 — tripling capacity, putting fewer trucks on the road and avoiding 15,000 tons of CO₂ a year. The innovation itself was the creative idea; the challenge was making an invisible logistics algorithm meaningful to the public.

La Poste partnered with Tetris itself for a 100% digital campaign — a launch film on YouTube and social channels, a VivaTech appearance by both companies' CEOs, and an exclusive La Poste x Tetris merchandise collection. The One Show 2026 named 'Delivered by Tetris' Best of Gaming, and the work sits in the D&AD Awards archive.

Why it lands

  • The creative idea is a real, scalable operational system — software that triples truck capacity — not just a communication about one.
  • Borrowing Tetris gives an invisible algorithm a universally understood visual metaphor that anyone who has played the game instantly gets.
  • The partnership with the game's owner made the story ownable and turned an engineering win into a cultural one.
  • The outcome is measurable in the brand's own language: 1,500 to 4,500 parcels per truck and 15,000 tons of CO₂ avoided annually.

What it did

Truck capacity tripled (1,500 to 4,500 parcels per vehicle), cutting the number of trucks on the road and avoiding 15,000 tons of CO₂ a year. The campaign won The One Show 2026 Best of Gaming and entered the D&AD Awards archive.

What you can take

Borrow a universally understood game to make an invisible operational win legible: the metaphor explains it, the partnership makes it ownable, and the system itself is the idea.

Since then

The loading system became a permanent part of La Poste's operations, and the partnership extended beyond the film: an exclusive La Poste x Tetris collection of sweatshirts, T-shirts, socks, tote bags and pens went on sale online and at the Musée de La Poste. 'Delivered by Tetris' won The One Show 2026 Best of Gaming and is archived as a D&AD award entry, making the case part of the creative canon rather than a one-off ad.
