UltraTech turns its logo into an AI+AR home-building expert — 'UltraTech Se Poocho'

Scan any UltraTech logo on a cement bag or wall and an AI+AR home-building expert with a WhatsApp advisor appears — static media becomes a working tool.

What it had to solve

Building a home is a once-in-a-lifetime task for 90% of Indians, and the decisions overwhelm people who have no reliable on-demand guidance. UltraTech had started #BaatGharKi expert guides on YouTube but needed a way in for the mass builder.

How it works

Building a home is a once-in-a-lifetime project for about 90% of Indians, and the sequence of decisions — plot, design, materials, contractor, budget — overwhelms people who have no trusted advisor to ask. UltraTech Cement, the country's leading cement brand, had launched BaatGharKi, a series of expert-driven home-building guides on YouTube, but the guides were only a one-way broadcast.

Mindshare, the GroupM agency, saw the logo itself as the untapped door. The 'UltraTech Se Poocho' (Ask UltraTech) campaign used AI Vision to recognize the UltraTech logo wherever it appeared, augmented reality to turn the scanned mark into a 3D home-building engineer, and a generative-AI WhatsApp bot that answered build questions and served thousands of stage-by-stage videos. Any logo — on a cement bag, a dealer board, a painted wall — became a portal once consumers scanned a QR code or followed a link.

The trick was converting static media spend into a utility: the same impressions UltraTech was already buying began doing work. The campaign was described by the agencies as category-first for construction, turning the packaging itself into a medium, and Mindshare's South Asia CEO Amin Lakhani framed it as bridging 'technology and trust' for one of people's biggest investments.

No sales or engagement figures were published in the launch coverage; its immediate reward was press attention and a new benchmark for how a materials brand can make its mark functional.

Why it lands

  • The logo is the one asset that appears on every touchpoint, so making it interactive converts existing media spend into product experience instead of adding a new channel.
  • A WhatsApp bot rides the channel Indians already trust for advice, so the campaign adds utility rather than demanding attention — help, not advertising.
  • Logo-as-expert answers the category's biggest buying anxiety, repositioning cement from a commodity to a guide, which is hard to copy without the same trusted mark.

What it did

Category-first for construction: static media became interactive product. Industry coverage (Moneycontrol, Social Samosa, bestmediainfo) framed the logo-as-expert as a new benchmark for interactive brand engagement in building materials.

What you can take

If your logo already appears wherever your customer stands, don't just be seen — be useful: make the mark itself a working tool and every impression becomes an entry point.

Since then

The campaign drew coverage from Moneycontrol, Social Samosa, bestmediainfo and Adgully in December 2024, all treating the logo-to-expert pivot as a first for the construction industry. Mindshare continued the pattern for UltraTech, extending the idea that brand assets can double as services rather than only as signs. Because publishing was tied to a WhatsApp bot and AR experience rather than a campaign site, quantified reach figures were never released; the durable artifact is the pattern itself — a static brand mark redesigned as an interface.
