Snack Jack's 'Mother Strike' drops a mom into her son's game — ADFEST 2026 Film Grande

What it had to solve

In Thailand's family culture, parental authority and Gen Z's gaming habits clash every day. Snack Jack Ring — a ring-shaped baked-pea snack — needed a film that positioned it as part of family life, not a child-only treat.

How it works

Mother Strike opens on a familiar Thai household fight: a mother who keeps telling her son to stop playing mobile games, a son who won't listen. Then the story breaks the frame — she is suddenly transported into his game world.

Inside the game she learns what he loves: shooting, throwing grenades, dodging enemies. What starts as frustration becomes empathy, and by the end their worlds are 'one circle' — the same phrase the product is built on, since Snack Jack Ring is a ring-shaped baked-pea snack.

The idea anchored the film in Thailand's deep culture of strong family bonds and parental authority, while speaking directly to the everyday tension between Gen Z gaming habits and parents' expectations. Choojai & Friends and production house Suneta House made the ring shape carry the entire narrative.

The film won the Film Lotus Grande at ADFEST 2026 — praised by the jury for combining a culturally rooted insight with a visually distinctive narrative — and later added a Bronze Lion in Film at Cannes Lions 2026, one of Thailand's four Film Lion wins that year.

Why it lands

  • The conflict is universal but culturally local — Thai family life makes parental authority vs. gaming instantly recognizable.
  • The ring shape does the storytelling: 'one circle' is both the theme and the product itself.
  • Instead of lecturing parents, the film puts the mother inside the game, so empathy is earned through play.
  • A viral film let a small snack brand compete on story rather than media weight.
  • Turning conflict into connection reframed the product as a family bridge, not a child-only snack.

What it did

Won the Film Lotus Grande at ADFEST 2026 and a Bronze Lion in Film at Cannes Lions 2026; Thai trade coverage cited it among the country's strongest international films of the year.

What you can take

Let the product's form carry the metaphor: when the object itself is the resolution of the story, the brand stops being an interruption and becomes the point.

Since then

After the ADFEST 2026 Film Lotus Grande, Mother Strike picked up a Bronze Lion in Film at Cannes Lions 2026, part of Thailand's strongest Cannes Film showing that year. The campaign helped Snack Jack claim a family positioning it hadn't had, and the film circulated as a viral piece across Thai platforms.
