Rosalía's 'Berghain': an orchestra follows her through daily life — Cannes Music GP
For the lead single of 'Lux', Rosalía is trailed everywhere by a full orchestra; the surreal video wins Cannes 2026 Music Grand Prix.

What it had to solve
For the launch of 'Berghain', the first single from her fourth album 'Lux', Rosalía wanted a video that matched the track's scale — a string-driven, operatic composition performed by the London Symphony Orchestra and featuring Björk and Yves Tumor.
How it works
In October 2025 Rosalía released 'Berghain', the first single from her fourth album 'Lux', with Björk and Yves Tumor. The track is built on a frenetic string arrangement performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, and the official video by director Nicolás Méndez made the orchestra the film's central image.
The concept is deceptively simple: a full orchestra follows Rosalía everywhere — through her apartment, down streets, onto a bus — like a shadow she cannot shake. Filmed in Warsaw, the video begins in realism and gradually tilts into surreal fantasy as the story unfolds.
The dreamlike world deepens as Björk and Yves Tumor appear in the closing moments, the apartment transforming into a forest inhabited by woodland creatures. Méndez's direction, with production company CANADA, treats every frame as part of the song's emotional arc — a heartbreak story told with classical majesty and modern pop craft.
At Cannes Lions 2026 the film won one of the two Entertainment Lions for Music Grands Prix. The jury called it an epic, cinematic piece that combined stunning visuals, orchestral power and emotional relevance — classical in instrumentation yet completely modern, fantasy rooted in reality.
Why it lands
- It translates a sonic idea (a live orchestra) into a visual rule: the orchestra is always present, making the abstract tangible.
- The escalation from realism to fantasy mirrors the song's emotional arc, so the craft serves the narrative rather than decorating it.
- It treated a pop single's launch as an art-film moment, earning cultural attention beyond the music press.
- Winning Cannes' music-video Grand Prix showed that a bold directorial concept can define an album era.
What it did
The video won the Entertainment Lions for Music Grand Prix (music video) at Cannes Lions 2026, praised by the jury for orchestral majesty, stunning visuals and emotional relevance; it launched the 'Lux' era to global attention.
What you can take
Make the music's scale visible: giving an orchestra a literal on-screen presence turns an abstract sound into a world the audience can step into — craft becomes the story.
Since then
The video became the signature piece of the 'Lux' era. Beyond the Cannes Grand Prix it was widely covered in Spanish and international media as one of the year's most ambitious pop videos, with production company CANADA celebrated for the work. The single set up the album for its November 2025 release, and the 'orchestra in daily life' conceit became the reference point for how the campaign was discussed.
