LG's Radio Optimism turns messages to loved ones into AI songs
LG invited people to write what they feel, and AI turned it into a song — 700K songs made, 30M engagements, 2.4B views.

What it had to solve
LG's global brand promise is 'Life's Good', but the company saw a paradox: people are more connected than ever and lonelier than ever. Its own five-country study found 68 percent of people think it has become harder to make real friends, a third had one or fewer meaningful connections in the past month, and 8 percent had none at all. The challenge was to make the brand's optimism feel true in the very digital spaces where connection had gone shallow.
How it works
LG's research found a paradox of digital life: platforms connect people constantly while making real friendship harder — 68 percent of respondents said forming genuine friendships had become more difficult, and one in three had at most one meaningful connection in the previous month. LG's 'Life's Good' promise needed a way to speak to that loneliness without adding another superficial interaction.
Radio Optimism borrowed radio's historic role — a medium where music made people feel connected — and rebuilt it as a creative tool. Anyone could write a few words to someone they cared about, pick a genre and mood, and an AI system trained on properly licensed music would compose a unique song and generate its album art. The song could be sent as a private gift or published to a global library, letting strangers share in other people's affection.
The campaign produced more than 700,000 personalized songs by late September 2025, with love the dominant theme and family the most common recipient. With 30 million social engagements and 2.4 billion views, LG turned an AI feature into a demonstration of its brand philosophy: technology used thoughtfully can deepen, rather than replace, human connection.
Why it lands
- Music is a universal language, so the campaign needed no translation of its core idea — only the interface had to be localized.
- Asking users to write a message made the AI output personally meaningful rather than a novelty.
- The public song library let private gestures become shared optimism, multiplying the campaign's reach.
- Training the AI on licensed music let LG claim responsible innovation while delivering genuinely varied results.
What it did
By the September 2025 results announcement, people around the world had created more than 700,000 personalized songs, listened to and shared over 1.5 million times. Love appeared in more than 30 percent of the songs — the most common message — with family the most frequent recipient. The campaign generated over 30 million social engagements and 2.4 billion content views, and produced cultural moments from sports-fan anthems to songs for pets.
What you can take
Give people a way to turn a feeling into a gift, and the brand becomes the instrument — the technology disappears into the gesture.
Since then
Radio Optimism ran as one of LG's most visible global brand efforts of 2025, building on the previous year's 'Optimism Your Feed' campaign that used social algorithms to promote positivity. The results announcement in September 2025 — 700,000 songs, 1.5 million listens and shares, 30 million engagements and 2.4 billion views — gave LG a measured case for AI as a tool for emotional connection rather than a replacement for it.
