Engage gamers who are unreachable through traditional media, and make the brand's speed promise experiential rather than claimed.

Guild Esports launched the Speed Showdown, described as a first-of-its-kind creator-led tournament, kicking off with Guild pro Ruby 'RubyPlays' inviting gamers to the island; Sky also partnered with the #1 Fortnite creator TheBoyDilly, placing a portal from his #1 UGC map Go Goated Zone Wars into Sky City for 72 hours.

200k+ plays (+2,000% above category benchmark) and 23-minute average playtime; 3M+ brand interactions; chosen for Epic's Picks within 24 hours and featured there for 8 days, often at #1 or #2; brand uplift: Meta ad recall +3.3%, TikTok ad recall +3%, awareness +2.5%, brand association with gaming +2.6%.

Sky Broadband had a reach problem: fast, reliable broadband was easy to claim but the gaming community 'weren't reachable through traditional media'. The answer was Sky City — a custom Fortnite island built in the sky, 'like the brand name, but also high above the sluggish street-level play to ensure a seamless, high-speed playground'. The island is explicitly a playable monument to Sky Broadband and lag-free competitive gaming.

Distribution was creator-led. Guild Esports launched the Speed Showdown, a creator-led tournament it described as first-of-its-kind, kicking off with Guild pro-Fortnite player Ruby 'RubyPlays' inviting gamers into 'an awesome mix of smart and competitive gameplay elements'. Sky then partnered with TheBoyDilly, the #1 Fortnite creator, placing a portal from his #1 UGC custom map, Go Goated Zone Wars, directly into Sky City for 72 hours.

The results came fast and stacked: within 24 hours of launch the island was chosen for Epic's Picks — Epic highlighted its creativity, fun gameplay and engagement — and it stayed featured for 8 days, often at #1 or #2. Sky City logged over 200k plays, +2,000% above the category benchmark, with 23 minutes of average playtime and 3M+ brand interactions. Brand uplift followed: Meta ad recall +3.3%, TikTok ad recall +3%, awareness +2.5%, and brand association with gaming +2.6%. Sky positioned the island to live on and carry more of Sky's IP in future.

The island literalises the product claim: high above street-level play is where lag can't touch you, so the game design itself argues for the broadband.

Creator distribution beat media spend: a 72-hour portal from the #1 UGC map bought an audience ads could never reach.

Epic's Picks turned the platform into a co-signer — curation by the game's own maker became the campaign's earned-media engine.

Demonstrate the product's promise inside the medium you're selling to: a broadband brand proves low lag best in a game where lag is the enemy.

As of the February 2026 case publication, Sky City had logged 200k+ plays, an 8-day run on Epic's Picks and 3M+ brand interactions, and Sky planned for the island to live on and feature more of Sky's IP in future.
