What it had to solve
Pre Game is an immersive concept store, restaurant and bar in the heart of Bangalore; the brief asked a structurally challenging shell to become one continuous spatial narrative.
How it works
A continuous cavern-like spatial narrative across 929 m²: drawing from Egyptian cave formations, subterranean passages and ancient excavation logics, the concept store displays curated products within carved niches, recessed bands and sculpted voids.
What it did
No results were reported; the interior itself is the product — an experiential venue where retail, restaurant and bar unfold as one cave journey.
Background
ArchDaily published the project on December 23, 2025: Pre Game, an immersive concept store, restaurant and bar in the heart of Bangalore by ATELIER ASTIL, envisioned as a sculpted, maze-inspired interior that transforms a structurally challenging shell into a continuous, cavern-like spatial narrative.
Lead architect Arpita Sharma's team drew from Egyptian cave formations, subterranean passages and ancient excavation logics, reinterpreting primordial spatiality through contemporary material innovation and an experiential architectural language. The experience unfolds through the concept store, which acts as the first threshold of the 'cave', with curated products displayed within carved niches, recessed bands and sculpted voids.
The project covers 929 m² in Bengaluru, India, with manufacturers including Asian Paints, Merino Laminates, Nitco and Shankeshwar Metals; GFC drawings by Sanjay Paranthaman and Karthikeya Bagewadi, photographed by Arjun Krishna.
Why it lands
The cave concept converts the site's structural difficulty into the venue's signature experience rather than hiding it.
Retail display is integrated into the architecture — products sit in carved niches and sculpted voids, not on added shelving.
One narrative device organises all three functions: concept store as threshold, then restaurant and bar deeper into the 'cave'.
What you can take
Design the constraint: a structurally difficult shell became the cave, giving the venue one memorable idea instead of a decorated floor plan.
Since then
The completed 929 m² venue opened in Bengaluru in 2025, documented by Arjun Krishna's photography in ArchDaily's December 2025 publication.
