Celebrate the renewed partnership and the club's first 'signing' since returning to the top of the English pyramid, in a form built for social feeds.

One hero video shot mockumentary-style on a single Sony FX6 with Easyrig: creative lighting simulated paparazzi flashes, zoom lenses delivered crash zooms, and Coventry fans and Monzo employees were cast as reporters to fill the press room. Co-directed by Untold Fable creative director Iyesha Cheema-Bradshaw and Monzo social content creator Miracle Hurd, with DOP Ashley Raim hired for his football portfolio.

Rolled out across Coventry City and Monzo channels on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and LinkedIn; LBB reported it had 'already netted a lot of interest' — no performance numbers given.

Monzo has sponsored Coventry City F.C. for a third season, and marked the renewal with a playful twist on the modern football transfer announcement. The Sky Blues had just secured promotion to the Premier League after a 25-year absence — their first return to the top flight in almost three decades — and the online bank teamed with tech-powered production company Untold Fable to unveil the club's 'first new signing'.

The hero asset is staged as a mock football press conference featuring Coventry manager Frank Lampard. Framed as a major deadline-day reveal, the former England and Chelsea star builds anticipation around the incoming star 'Monzinho' — before expectations are kicked into touch and the signing is revealed as Hot Chonk, Monzo's mascot. The film recreates the familiar drama of deadline-day reveals, reworked for a social-first audience.

The craft choices were deliberately reactive: a nimble crew, one Sony FX6 with Easyrig, zoom lenses for crash zooms to enhance the mockumentary style, lighting rigged to simulate paparazzi flashes, and a press room filled with real Coventry fans and Monzo employees as reporters. Cheema-Bradshaw said the aim was to 'capture the energy and visual language of a Premier League transfer announcement' and 'amp up the drama of Deadline Day' for the club's die-hard fans.

The moment did the targeting: promotion after 25 years meant every Coventry fan was primed for exactly the transfer-announcement format being parodied.

Mascot-as-signing keeps the joke on the sponsor, not the club — the brand plays along with football culture instead of interrupting it.

A single hero asset, shot cheap and fast on one camera, matched how the content would actually be consumed: on social, in-feed, at deadline-day pace.

Borrow a fan culture's own grammar — Deadline Day melodrama — then subvert it with your mascot: recognition first, punchline second.

The campaign rolled out across Coventry City and Monzo social channels — Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and LinkedIn — with LBB reporting strong early interest and no performance figures disclosed.
